Limousin Junior Showmen Honored

For two days, showmanship judges Steve and Ky Kennedy of Muleshoe, Texas, watched the exhibitors at the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress (NJLSC) as they led their cattle in the steer, bred-and-owned, Lim‑Flex® and owned-female shows. The father-son team then invited back 10 juniors, 10 intermediates and 10 seniors to parade animals in the showmanship division finals. As an added test of skill in the Senior Division, the finalists had just 30 minutes before entering the showring to fit their animals while the judges observed.

Emily Griffiths, Kendallville, Ind., won the title of 2007 senior showmanship champion. Megan Greenawalt, Lynchburg, Ohio, claimed highest honors in the Intermediate Division. Sarah Johnson, Williamsport, Ohio, worked her way to the top of the Junior Division.

The other senior finalists were Katie Crow, Leslie, Ark.; Scott Edwards, Corder, Mo.; Austen Etherton, Dawson, Ill.; Ryan Garrison, Waskom, Texas; Cori Harrison, Minier, Ill.; Lee Roy Lawrence, Anton, Texas; Kelvin Moreno, Venus, Fla.; Jordan Straight, Logan, Iowa; and Megan Werner, Waco, Neb.

In the Intermediate Division, the other finalists were Eric Birkner, Solgohachia, Ark.; Remy Carmichael, Richmond, Ky.; Kelsey Delaplaine, Gettysburg, Pa.; Kendall Harsh, Crescent, Okla.; Heather Kosub, Saint Hedwig, Texas; Michael Mitchell, Mangum, Okla.; Tanner Schmidt, Grandview, Texas; Jacob Wilkerson, La Grange, Texas; and Cassidy Woodard, Calhan, Colo.

The other junior finalists were Sarah Cunningham, Camdenton, Mo.; Blair Davis, Brownwood, Texas; Peyton Fisher, China Spring, Texas; Micaela Fosdick, Chenoa, Ill.; Molly Greenawalt, Lynchburg, Ohio; Colten Heldermon, Hinton, Okla.; Abby Hendrickson, Adair, Okla.; Ty Ladner, Picayune, Miss.; and Madison Yandell, Wichita Falls, Texas.

The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Centennial, Colo., provides programs and services – including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires – to nearly 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim‑Flex® hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
