Limousin Juniors Savor Cook-Off Success

Five teams shared their recipes for success at the 15th Annual Limousin Beef Cook-Off July 23 in West Monroe, La. Each prepared a beef dish while keeping with its chosen theme – from costumes to serving style. The Limi Boosters hosted the contest as part of the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress (NJLSC).

The judges awarded the “High-Class Hillbillies” from Texas with first-place honors, which included $200 for their state treasury. That team also won the People’s Choice Award. The “Oklahoma Fiesta Crew” won the $100 second prize. Third place went to the “Beef Guaranteed” team from Arkansas.

The other teams were “Bayou Burgoo” from Kentucky and the “Texas Tornadoes.”

This year’s judges – Sara Johnson, Jan Gentry and Janelle Rose – represented the West Monroe business community.

The Limi Boosters are the North American Limousin Foundation’s (NALF’s) auxiliary organization. They support and promote the North American Limousin Junior Association (NALJA) and help promote the Limousin breed.

The North American Limousin Foundation (www.nalf.org), headquartered in Centennial, Colo., provides programs and services – including genetic evaluation of 5,000 active sires – to nearly 4,000 members and their commercial customers. The Limousin breed and its Lim‑Flex® hybrid lead the beef industry in muscle-growth efficiency and ideally complement British breeds.
