112 Limousin, Lim‑Flex Cattle Show on the Hill in Denver
The National Western Stock Show (NWSS) Limousin and Lim‑Flex® open shows were Jan. 15 in the Stadium Arena on the Hill in Denver, Colo. The NWSS is one of the North American Limousin Foundation’s (NALF’s) four major Medal of Excellence (MOE) shows. A good crowd gathered to watch judge Matt Claeys, West Lafayette, Ind., sort 27 Lim‑Flex females, nine Lim‑Flex bulls, 57 Limousin females and 19 Limousin bulls.
In the Limousin bull show, DHVO Deuce 132R won the grand champion banner after winning Division 6. Magness Land and Cattle, Platteville, Colo.; Lawrence Family Limousin, Anton, Texas; Kervin Cattle Co., Winnfield, La.; and Lance Hall Cattle Co., Sweetwater, Texas, own the March 13, 2005, son of GPFF Blaque Rulon.
The reserve grand champion Limousin bull was EXLR Saturn 040S, the Division 5 champion. The March 2, 2006, son of Carrousels Pure Power belongs to Tubmill Creek Farms, New Florence, Pa., and Express Ranches, Yukon, Okla.
3G Twisted Sister 769T, the winner of Division 1, went on to claim the title of grand champion Limousin heifer. Mark Blake, Earl Park, Ind., owns the March 20, 2007, daughter of RGMA Night Rider 73N.
MAGS Solaris came from Division 4 to become reserve grand champion Limousin heifer. Deer Valley Farm, Fayetteville, Tenn., and Magness Land and Cattle own the May 17, 2006, daughter of GPFF Blaque Rulon.
EXLR Neely 002R was the grand champion Limousin cow. Express Ranches; Green Pastures Farm, Berlin Center, Ohio; and Sugar Bush Limousin, Allen, Mich., own the Feb. 10, 2005, daughter of EF Main Stay 541M. She showed with a June 1, 2007, son of EXLR Review 7153R at her side.
KRVN Rellic 276R claimed reserve grand champion Limousin cow for Blair Davis, Brownwood, Texas. She is a Sept. 15, 2005, daughter of GPFF Blaque Rulon, and she had a Sept. 30, 2007, son of EXLR Excellante 251L at her side.
Grand champion honors in the Lim‑Flex bull show went to EF Smack Down 764S, the Division 2 winner and a March 1, 2006, son of EF Main Stay 541M out of M L Prudence 427. Etherton Farms, Dawson, Ill.; Magness Land and Cattle; and Counsil Family Limousin, Madisonville, Texas, own him.
Magness Land and Cattle and the 13-member Scotland Syndicate own the reserve grand champion Lim‑Flex bull. MAGS Scotland, a May 10, 2006, son of BR Midland out of MAGS Marquee, also came from Division 2.
MAGS Sugar N Spice followed her win in Division 3 by becoming grand champion Lim‑Flex heifer. Magness Land and Cattle and Milton and David Bratton, Austin, Ark., own the May 18, 2006, daughter of BR Midland out of MAGS Marquee.
Sennett Emblynette 723T claimed reserve grand champion Lim‑Flex heifer for Ellie Sennett, Waynetown, Ind. The Division 1 champion is a Feb. 1, 2007, daughter of SAV 004 Predominant 4438 out of Sennett Heather 448P.
EXLR Eileen 755M claimed the title of grand champion Lim‑Flex cow. Sennett also owns the March 1, 2002, daughter of EXLR Right On Time 106J out of EXLR Eileen 912J and the Oct. 5, 2007, son of VUKR Wonder Bull 2 that showed alongside her.
AUTO Christy 8889R was reserve grand champion Lim‑Flex cow. Circle L Limousin and Land Co., Burbank, Ohio, owns the Sept. 6, 2005, daughter of EXAR New Design 3903 out of AUTO Christy 853N. She showed with a Sept. 17, 2007, daughter of EXLR Excellante 251L at her side.
Magness Land and Cattle claimed both the Premier Breeder and Premier Exhibitor honors.
The previous day, in the juniors’ female show, judge Jake Scott, Gordon, Neb., selected Blake’s 3G Twisted Sister 769T as grand champion from among 29 entries. EXLR Luvly 036T – a Feb. 1, 2007, daughter of LESF Asphalt 9N – was reserve grand champion for Michael Mitchell, Mangum, Okla. Kirsten VanZanten, Ferndale, Wash., received champion showman honors.
