Corner Post Package Generates $18,750 for Limousin Juniors
The National Limousin Sale, Jan. 14 in Denver, Colo., began with the second Corner Post Genetics Package. Counsil Family Limousin, Madisonville, Texas, donated the headline female, CFLX Cheerleader 002T. The Jan. 9, 2007, daughter of Carrousels Peak Power is a maternal half sibling to multitrait leader JCL Lodestar 27L.
A 24-member syndicate of North American Limousin Junior Association (NALJA) supporters bought the package up front for $12,000 then donated it back to the juniors. Rancho Espuela Cattle Co., Fort Davis, Texas, came out on top of the second round of bidding at $3,750 and elected to donate the package back again. Lawrence Family Limousin, Anton, Texas, won the final bidding, purchasing the female and her attendant products and services for $3,000.
In addition to the headline female, the package included free registrations for all of her natural calves; a farm sign; one in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle and a genetic preservation package from Trans Ova Genetics, Sioux Center, Iowa; and the first $5,000 worth of insurance for the first year from Grassroots Insurance Associates, Ankeny, Iowa.
Once it reaches a suitable principal, NALJA’s Corner Post Fund will facilitate additional activities and scholarships for Limousin juniors.
