Loren, Lincoln, and Cody Shuck of Union Center, S.D. were chosen by the South Dakota Limousin Association as their 2020 Commercial Producers.
The brothers raise close to 600 Limousin influenced commerical cows on approximately 15,000 acres, covering 3 counties in northwestern South Dakota. Their grandparents homesteaded in western South Dakota in 1909.
The brothers began using Limousin bulls in 1988. They have purchased bulls from Wulfs, Venners, and Wieczorek herds. They have been purchasing multiple lots from the Black Hills Stock show. This year the Shucks purchased 3 bulls from the consignments. They mainly buy purebred Limousin bulls to obtain that F1 cross.
They like the Limousin vigor of the calves and docility of the bulls. They market their entire spring production at the Philip Livestock exchange at the end of March and have topped the sale for several years. They place importance on hybrid vigor, weight gain and longevity of the cows.
Congratulations to the Shuck Brothers upon their selection as Commercial Producers of the year!
