Limousin and Lim-Flex breeders were under the bright lights of the Stadium Arena at the National Western Stock Show to showcase their genetics. The Level 1 Medal of Excellence Limousin Show was held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Denver. Dave Allen, Schulenburg, Texas, evaluated the 64 females and 24 bulls.
The grand champion Limousin female was FWLY Purple Ribbon exhibited by Maycee Ratliff, Westphalia, Kan. She is a May 28, 2016, 81 percent Lim-Flex female sired by RLBH Air Force One. This female was first named Division IV champion. FWLY Purple Ribbon also won the NWSS Junior Limousin Show.
Sara Sullivan, Dunlap, Iowa, exhibited the reserve champion Limousin female. WLR Eden ET is a March 2, 2017, 50% Lim-Flex heifer sired by Silveiras Style 9303. This heifer came from Division I.
In the bull show, MAGS Deserves Better was named grand champion Limousin Bull. He is an April 8, 2016, 56 percent Lim-Flex bull sired by MAGS Zappo. This bull was exhibited by Magness Land & Cattle, and was first name Division V champion.
The reserve champion Limousin bull was LFL Deluxe Edition 6029D ET, a 65 percent Lim-Flex bull sired by RLBH Air Force One. This Lim-Flex bull came from Division V and was exhibited by Bruce Lawrence, Anton, Texas.
At the conclusion of the show, the premier breeder and premier exhibitor awards went to Bruce L. Lawrence, Anton, Texas.
During the week on NWSS, exhibitors nominate candidates and vote for the herdsman of the year award. The 2018 Limousin herdsman winner was Amber Parkinson.
